What We Do

3rd Grade
At the third grade level business leaders read and discuss the book I Know I Can in 3rd grade classrooms. Every students gets a copy of the book to keep. In 2011, over 1,500 books were distributed in Rochester and area schools.

Middle School
In Rochester and area middle schools, Learn.Do.Earn messages are about students pushing themselves academically, working hard now and preparing for a rigorous high school schedule.

High School
At the high school level, Learn.Do.Earn. messages are about being prepared for post-secondary education, avoiding remediation and planning for the future.

Learn.Do.Earn is not a new curriculum. It is designed to be supplementary to the work that educators are already doing. Learn.Do.Earn. includes:

  • 56 posters presenting research-based advice from a business lens
  • 29 PowerPoint presentations used to connect school experience and decisions in the real world
  • Interactive online games to reinforce student learning
  • Technology challenges
  • The Hiring Game puts students in the shoes of a company making hiring decisions
  • The Scavenger Hunt requires students to seek answers from the Learn.Do.Earn message in order to compete for iPods, gift cards and other prizes.
  • Business leaders visit classrooms to share information about their careers or industry, as well as talk about interviewing and job application skills.
